My Journey to Birth Keeping
Hi, I'm Chalé, the woman behind Intuitive Womb Services. I'm a freebirthin' mama who wants to spread the knowledge of undisturbed, physiological birth! This doesn't mean you have to freebirth too (although it's super cool if you want to!) but just means you understand what is needed to allow your body + baby to do the incredible work of bringing forth life.
I am currently studying through the Holistically Empowered Rebel Birthkeepers' Academy to better serve birthing people and their families, especially those that do choose unassisted or freebirth. I have also completed a hands-on training with Indigemama and Sumayah Franklin of Sumi's Touch on self-done prenatal care, herbs for pregnancy, labor + postpartum, and rebozo use. All of this knowledge I used for my first unassisted pregnancy + birth and this is knowledge I want to share and know is needed.
I believe in family birth and strive to include partners + family (siblings, aunties, cousins, grandparents) so that they feel confident in their knowledge and supporting the birthing person in their goals. Having the knowledge and skills to support yourself or a loved one returns birth to the community, as it should be.
I believe in the autonomy of the birthing person: the right to choose whatever care and birth plan will benefit them best. It's why I offer Pregnancy Support Consults to help people answer the questions they have to get to the root of their needs. Not everyone will want or need a midwife, so let's discuss ALL your options.
I believe breastfeeding is an extension of undisturbed, physiological birth and that it benefits not only the newborn but the birthing person as well. Studies show that it can reduce the risk of postpartum depression + anxiety and your risk of developing breast cancer later in life. Not only is it the best source of nutrition for a newborn, but it has also got all kinds of other uses, from rashes to pink eye to runny noses!
I believe that we all intuitively know what is best for us, especially pregnant and birthing people. My experiences with spirituality and guided meditations have shown me there is a deep well of ancient knowledge we can tap into, inside of ourselves where we can connect with ancestors, our babies, and our highest selves to find the best path for our journey.
Pregnancy, birth, labor, and parenting are my passions. I used to want to be an OB/GYN because I thought that was the only way to support birthing people and their families. I've since found out there are so many ways to do that! If you're interested in having me on your birth team, contact me today for your free 15-minute consult.
